Allen Proithis has an extensive background building and leading high-performance growth stage and Fortune 500 technology businesses with a focus on the IoT and wireless markets. Over the past few years, Allen led the rollout of the first nationwide low-powered, wide area wireless network (LPWAN) as the President - North America for Sigfox and partnered for solutions in smart city, logistics, facilities management, agriculture, energy and many other verticals.
Prior to Sigfox, Allen led the funding ($15M) and spinout of wot.io, an award-winning Internet of Things startup focused on accelerating value produced by the data generated by the IoT. In addition, Allen was executive vice president of InterDigital Solutions, where he was responsible for monetizing a $700 million, 10-year R&D investment by taking commercially promising technologies to the marketplace. In that role, he led the creation of Convida Wireless, an IoT joint venture with Sony, InterDigital and Stephen Capital, and served as Chairman.
Earlier in his career Allen spent seven years at Hewlett-Packard in a variety of regional and global roles, including developing and executing the strategy & go-to-market for a new global HP channel program ($400+ million) to sell connected home & consumer electronics through major telecommunications companies in North America and Europe.
At HP, he ultimately led strategy & business development globally for their Handheld Business Unit, where he was responsible for strategic initiatives for mobile devices, software and services, including the launch of HPs first mobile app store. Allen began his career in the consulting business in the telecom and software industries and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in telecommunications from Penn State University.
